PlayStation 5 Prices Announced. No Clarity On Indian Release

Spread the Word

Sony aired a 40 minutes PlayStation 5 showcase event last night/early morning(depending on your sleep cycle). The showcase was mostly about the games. But right at the end, Sony announced the pricing for their next-gen consoles. With that, the floodgates opened and many retailers across the world started taking pre-orders.

But it was business as usual in India, as neither Sony nor any retailer knows about the release date of the PS5. PlayStation India’s twitter timeline is filled with requests about the prices and pre-order details. But they are maintaining silence on the matter.

As we reported earlier, India is likely to get very few consoles at launch. But it is unclear when will that happen. PS5 is having two release dates based on geographical region. It is releasing on 12th November in the US, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The rest of the world will get it on 19th November. But we still don’t know if that will apply to India.

Price:

The PS5 console with Disc drive is priced at $499, same as Xbox Series X.

The PS5 digital version is priced competitively at $399, which is just 100 dollars expensive than the much weaker Xbox Series S. Since the Xbox is priced at 49,990 in India. We can expect the PS5 Disc version to be in the same region. The PS5 Digital version is likely to be priced around 40000.

Games:

Sony has confirmed that next-gen games published by them will be between $50-$70. This will replace the old $40-$60 price tag games used to carry. In India, we will most likely see an increase of 500-750 rupees. So the next-gen games will most likely cost anything between 4500 to 4750 rupees.

At launch, the PS5 will have the following games:

  • Astro’s Playroom – Pre-installed on PS5
  • Demon’s Souls – $69.99
  • Destruction All-Stars – $69.99
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $49.99
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Mile Morales Ultimate Edition – $69.99
