PlayStation 5 Prices Announced. No Clarity On Indian Release

Sony aired a 40 minutes PlayStation 5 showcase event last night/early morning(depending on your sleep cycle). The showcase was mostly about the games. But right at the end, Sony announced the pricing for their next-gen consoles. With that, the floodgates opened and many retailers across the world started taking pre-orders.

But it was business as usual in India, as neither Sony nor any retailer knows about the release date of the PS5. PlayStation India’s twitter timeline is filled with requests about the prices and pre-order details. But they are maintaining silence on the matter.

As we reported earlier, India is likely to get very few consoles at launch. But it is unclear when will that happen. PS5 is having two release dates based on geographical region. It is releasing on 12th November in the US, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The rest of the world will get it on 19th November. But we still don’t know if that will apply to India.

The PS5 console with Disc drive is priced at $499, same as Xbox Series X.

The PS5 digital version is priced competitively at $399, which is just 100 dollars expensive than the much weaker Xbox Series S. Since the Xbox is priced at 49,990 in India. We can expect the PS5 Disc version to be in the same region. The PS5 Digital version is likely to be priced around 40000.

Sony has confirmed that next-gen games published by them will be between $50-$70. This will replace the old $40-$60 price tag games used to carry. In India, we will most likely see an increase of 500-750 rupees. So the next-gen games will most likely cost anything between 4500 to 4750 rupees.

At launch, the PS5 will have the following games:

  • Astro’s Playroom – Pre-installed on PS5
  • Demon’s Souls – $69.99
  • Destruction All-Stars – $69.99
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $49.99
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Mile Morales Ultimate Edition – $69.99
  • Sackboy A Big Adventure – $59.99

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also be available on the PS4.

Sony released a list of accessories that will launch alongside the PS5.

  • DualSense Wireless Controller (standalone) – $69.99
  • PULSE 3D wireless headset – with 3D audio support and dual noise-canceling microphones – $99.99
  • HD Camera – with dual 1080p lenses – $59.99
  • Media Remote – $29.99
  • DualSense Charging Station – $29.99

PlayStation Plus Collection:

Sony announced a collection of hand-picked PS4 games that will be available to download on PlayStation 5 launch day for the PlayStation Plus members at no extra cost.

  • God of War
  • The Last of Us: Remastered
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Battlefield 1
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • The Last Guardian
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Days Gone

When And Where To Watch The PlayStation 5 Showcase In India

Last week Microsoft was forced to show all their cards since almost all the details on the Xbox consoles leaked online. Which only left Sony to reveal their plans for the PlayStation 5. Tonight Sony is all set to pull the curtains off the PlayStation 5. We are expecting to see the price and release date. But a lot of focus will also be on the games and hardware details.

Microsoft has already revealed almost everything about the next-gen Xbox. Microsoft is going with a two console strategy. A high-end console, the Xbox Series X, and an entry-level console, the Xbox Series S. With this strategy they can have the best of both the worlds. An expensive next-gen console and the world’s most powerful console. This would have put a huge amount of pressure on Sony to deliver a cost-effective yet powerful console in PlayStation 5.

A lot is expected from tonight’s event. If you live in India, you can catch the event on PlayStation’s Youtube channel at 1:30 AM IST. The video feed is already active and you can chat with other gamers who are already present there.

What can be expected from the event?

  • Price for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital consoles
  • Release date and launch titles
  • Pre-order start date
  • New exclusive games
  • Update on already announced games
  • Some PlayStation 5 hardware details

It Might Have Just Got Harder To Buy A PS5 In India At Launch

Bloomberg has reported that Sony has readjusted its estimates for PlayStation 5 production for this fiscal year, which ends on 31st March 2021. Sony has reduced the estimates from 15 million to 11 million for this period due to manufacturing issues. The AMD System-on-Chip (SoC) is having very low production yields which is greatly hampering PS5’s production.

This decrease in the number of consoles being manufactured will mean a lesser number of shipments to various markets that Sony caters to. Sony is facing fierce competition from both Nintendo and Xbox in its most important market, North America. Sony would be keen to fill the shelves with as many consoles they could during the all-important holiday session in North America. This would mean they would be diverting most of the PS5 consoles to North America leaving very few for other regions. With India being one of the lesser markets for Sony’s console, one can imagine that we will be getting far fewer consoles after this decrease in production.
Sony is trying everything to get the consoles on the shelves including using air freight for faster movement of the inventory. They might just go with a staggered worldwide release like the PS4. If that happens then India will be one of the last countries to get the PS5 officially.

With global pandemic, bad economic conditions, and border tension with China. It is a very bad time to be a gamer in India as hardware prices are soaring at the moment. Microsoft revealed the pricing of the next-gen Xbox consoles and as always Indians will end up paying much more than the west. Sony is holding a PlayStation 5 showcase tomorrow and we will most likely get prices and release dates for the PS5 and PS5 digital consoles.

Ubisoft’s Breath of The Wild Rises This December

On September 10, Ubisoft aired its digital showcase event dubbed the Ubisoft Forward. The show opened with Gods and Monsters, a game that was revealed in 2019 at E3. Since then Ubisoft has changed the name to Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
The game is heavily inspired by the Nintendo’s Zelda Breath of the Wild. There are many similarities right from the art style, weapon choices, climbing mechanics, gliding, and some of the combat. It also seems to have puzzles similar to the dungeons in The Breath of The Wild. But that doesn’t mean the game lacks any originality. There is a character creator that seems quite deep and also affects your load-out. The game also has some cheeky humor and the story feels interesting. Immortal’s world also is much larger than Nintendo’s game.

Immortals Fenyx Rising™ brings grand mythological adventure to life. Play as Fenyx, a new winged demigod on a quest to save the Greek gods and their home from a dark curse. Take on mythological beasts, master the legendary powers of the gods and defeat Typhon, the deadliest Titan in Greek mythology, in an epic fight for the ages. The fate of the world is at stake – you are the gods’ last hope.
The game is helmed by Ubisoft Quebec who worked on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The game is releasing on 3rd December 2020. It will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Nintendo Switch, Epic Games Store, Uplay, and Stadia. With Stadia getting an exclusive early demo later this year.

It was the Indian price, which was eagerly awaited by the Indian gamers. In a Facebook post, Microsoft has released the India pricing for both the X and S. The Series X will retail at Rs 49,990 and the Series S at 34,990.
Compared to the US price, it is at a higher side in India. But this is expected as these consoles attract extra charges when they are imported to India.

PUBG Mobile Might Comeback to India Soon. Here’s How?

PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were banned by the Indian government earlier this week. Now the makers of PUBG are planning to bring the game back to the Indian players. In a post published on, they have detailed their plans to bypass the said ban.

PUBG Mobile is an IP owned by the PUBG Corporation, which is a Korean company. They have decided to no longer authorize the PUBG MOBILE franchise to Tencent Games in India. Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country. Since this ban is supposedly placed on mainly Chinese mobile applications. Moving the publishing rights from the Chinese giant Tencent to the Korean company might satisfy the Indian government in prompting them to remove the ban.

Even though this seems to be a good way to bypass the ban. It is unclear whether the Indian government will agree to this. As the game is still developed and maintained by Tencent. You can see the whole post here.
