The game follows Aloy, a hunter in a world overrun by machines, who sets out to uncover her past. Raised by an outcast named Rost, in a post-apocalyptic world.
He trains her to be a skilled warrior to win a ritual competition held by Nora tribe and then discover her mother’s identity.
The game features quest elements which include the main story quests, national quests involving tribes, and also side quests. As a player, progresses through the game, they are able to level up their character. Aloy has three skill trees, namely, Prowler, Brave, and Forager. In order to overcome a much larger and superior enemy, Aloy must use her knowledge, intelligence, and agility to survive.
Aloy has multiple hunting weapons at her disposal. Such as bow and arrow. And a Tricaster, which places tripwire traps between two horizontal points and a Ropecaster, which fires lengths of rope to pin down and temporarily restrain machines. Stealth is also a central element of the game, comprised of a crouch system and sections of tall grass, which can be used to avoid visual detection completely or hide downed enemy bodies.
